On the 27th of April 2023, Special Olympics Somalia held Family Health Forum in Galmudug state, to educate people with intellectual disabilities, their family members and community about Diabetes and Cancer awareness and its prevention.

An array of distinguished guests attended this FHF forum, including Lions Members, Elders, Women and representatives from nongovernmental organizations.

The event featured lots of fun-filled activities, including health talks on Diabetes and Cancer, voluntary counselling and testing for participants, and distribution of Beverages to families.

During this important meeting, participants addressed important issues such as Expanding of Diabetes Forums and coordination with their cities the also visited an insightful exhibition showcasing the efforts of SO Somalia to improve access to Diabetes services. The forum provided a platform for sharing ideas, lessons learned, and best practices to further strengthen collaboration to advance the Diabetes Awarness in Somalia.

Finally, Family members and athletes who attended the event were very happy that the programme was brought to their area and looked forward to more Special Olympics Somalia programming in their community and welcomed this innovative program.
